FUNDING SZN
Every week we give you a rundown of companies with recent investment activity. Why? Because $$$ means growth and growth means jobs are coming soon. Hop into this list and do some outreach. You might nail a job that's not yet posted.
Plai Labs: $32m Series Unknown. Web3 social is coming. NFTs and Ai will play a vital role in the first (awkwardly named?) game, Champions Ascension. Round led by a16z.
=nil; Foundation: $22m Series Unknown. This zk proofs on-demand protocol is geared for decentralized data sharing but we think they shared naming strategies with Musk + Grimes (love you baby X Æ A-12).
Architect: $5m Seed. Recently launched by the former president of FTX.US, Architect offers trading software tailored toward large investors and institutions. There's a joke here somewhere, but too soon, too soon.
Mask: $5m Strategic Round. Mask network brings privacy and other web3 benefits to social media with an open-sourced browser extension. This gets our cool vote.
Ulvetanna: $15m Seed. Ulvetanna builds hardware geared toward making zk proof generation faster. Their name comes from a "sharp-peak" in Antarctica, first climbed in 1992. TY google. See "sharp-peak" below.
EDITOR'S CHOICE
1️⃣ The Deadend of Eurocentric Crypto. Takeaway: LATAM's reliance on digital payments and cross-border remittance, combined with low institutional trust will become the focal point for future crypto innovation. Will the global West be able to keep up?
2️⃣ WEF Global Risks Report 2023. Takeaway: 25 pages with lots of pictures. Here's a pretty teaser, just take a trazodone when you read the captions:
3️⃣ A Job Hunting Journal. A retrospective journal from a Meta engineer let go in 2022, including a full breakdown of application strategy, offers, and rejections. Takeaway: Budget your time, be organized, your network is still key.
4️⃣ Digital Nomading in the Promised Land. A great anthropological read about a digital nomad economy in Portugal. Tim Ferriss would approve. Takeaway: DN's may have the freedom to travel, but where they decide to land has hidden ripple effects.
That's a wrap. See ya next Wednesday! If you want more, be sure to follow our Twitter (@LocalBoys_xyz).
